American Asphalt Description of Services
The following is an overview of the many things American Asphalt may do while fulfilling your asphalt needs.

Cleaning:
All asphalt surfaces are prepared by some combination of weed pulling, wire brushing, edging, burning, scraping, sweeping, power blowing, etc. Removal of moss, imbedded debris, chemicals, etc. will require extra cleaning and will be evaluated one case-by-case basis. In some limited instances, American Asphalt may request the customer's
assistance in this process via pre-washing of the surface or other.

Rubberized Crack Sealing:
The goal of crack sealing is to prevent water penetration and improve appearance. This process does NOT eliminate cracks but helps prevent them from getting worse. All structural cracks 3/8 inch or longer will be sealed prior to the sealcoating process. American Asphalt's experts will clean the cracks, then squeegee, approved, highly elastic, high-aggregated, ambient temperature crack sealant in them.

Hot Rubberized Crack Sealing:
As above, after cleaning of the cracks, American Asphalt’s experts will “pour”, via on e of several industry standard methods, molten rubber into all the cracks 3/8 inch or larger. The material will be spread to match the original surface height. The rubber that we use is specifically formulated for crack sealing. It is normal, when asphalt surfaces approach 170*F, for the material to become somewhat tacky, however, our hot rubber crack sealant will remain flexible in extremely cold conditions when if counts.

Sealcoating
We start by carefully pouring sealer along and brushing the perimeter of the surfaces to be sealcoated. We brush seal a minimum of 36 inches of the perimeter, more near sidewalks, houses, garages, fences, etc. This protects your property from overspray. Typically, we then use a pressurized, continuously agitated system to concurrently apply two coats of sealer. Close inspection of the process will reveal a constant overlap method. This time tested simultaneous two coat process takes no longer to complete or cure than an individually applied two coat process. In limited instances, where budgets are extremely limited, we may be able to provide a single coat application.

Surface Patching:
Our team will remove excess debris and vegetation. Next, we apply ssl tack emulsion (asphalt glue) to the area to be patched. We then install hot asphalt as needed to fortify and level the deteriorated area, feathering all edges to the existing surface to avoid rough transitions. We then use vibratory compaction to compact the patch to the proper density. Either at this point or when we return to sealcoat, we will bind the edges of the new patch to the existing asphalt with a rubberized agent.

Cut or Full Depth Patching:
For this type of repair we will cut a perimeter around the area to be replaced. We then remove the broken asphalt. Once removed, the base is compacted and hot asphalk is installed. During these repairs we often install several layers of asphalt, with vibratory compaction berween each layer. The patch is complete when the properly compacted asphalt follows the original or intended contours of pavement.

Resurfacing:
Driveways at the end of their useful life can often be resurfaced During resurfacing we apply ss] tack emulsion to the entire drive (or designated section). We will then install new asphalt over the old either by hand or with machine. Sometime ir is necessary to install a “scratch” course of asphalt. A scratch course is used tc level the surface and is usually very chin at the higher points of the pavement: it is compacted prior to continuing. Whether or not a scratch course is Recessary, a wearing of top course of asphalt, typically about two inches thick, is installed The wearing course is Bne graded and compacted to proper density using large rollers with vibratory compaction. All exposed edges are tamped by hand.

Paving or Full Depth Paving:
Existing pavement: All old material is removed Som the site. The stone base is inspected, added to id necessary, graded and compacted. Our team will rhea install asphalt, typically four inches thick, in one or more & iP PHAL typically layers. If applicable the base layer will be rough graded and compacted. In all cases the wearing course is fine graded and compacted to proper density using large rollers with vib ratory compaction. AH exposed edges are tamped by hand

Paving or Full Depth Paving:
No existing drive: We will excavate and remove, if desired, sod and soil to a depth ten inches below final grade. We will then install, grade and compact six inches of crushed stone. Once the stone is properly compacted, our ream will then instal] asphalt, typically four inches thick, in one or mote layers. If applicable the base layer will be rough graded and compacted In all cases the wearing course is fine graded and compacted to proper density using large rollers with vibratory compaction. All exposed edges are tamped by hand.
